Helping Your Child Build Real Connection This Fall

Dear Families,

As September begins, many students are navigating new routines, faces, and social dynamics—whether they’re returning to familiar classrooms or starting fresh. This can bring a sense of uncertainty, but it can also be a time full of possibility! That’s why our theme this month is Belonging & ConnectionWe’re encouraging students to engage in face-to-face interactions to foster genuine connections, while taking small yet meaningful steps toward building a stronger sense of belonging at school.

A strong sense of school belonging can foster improved academic achievement, positive behaviour, and overall mental well-being. And while individual personality plays a role, what matters most are the relationships and routines students experience every day. We want our students to feel seen and empowered to build real connections—and we’d love your help to encourage them in taking those first steps. Whether it’s encouraging them to try a new club, join a lunch-time activity, or simply say hello to someone new, real belonging starts with real-life connection—and it grows through practice.
