Take a moment to re-read 1 Corinthians 13. This is a well-known passage in the Bible as it gives us a clear vision of what love is, “love is patient, love is kind…” (1 Cor 13:4). Powerful words that many of us have etched on our hearts since childhood. This passage not only instructs us to love, but says that without love, all of our knowledge and faith is nothing. What does this mean for our Christian school? We all struggle daily with the complications and sorrows of our sinful world, and our students are no different. As we walk alongside our students and each other our first response must be this: love. Love “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Cor 13:7). The knowledge we pass on to our students will eventually fade away, but our prayer is that they will always know that they are loved, as Jesus instructed.
