Wednesday, January 27th is Family Literacy Day in Canada! The theme this year is “Travel the World Together” (from home of course!).
This annual event is a great way to spend time together as a family. One of the greatest gifts you can give your child is to foster a love of reading at home. In addition to setting children up for future academic success and nurturing their unique curiosities, it also encourages them to widen their perspectives and therefore become responsible global citizens. God created us as a diverse people. Our differences – race, culture, abilities, experiences, gender to name a few –complement each other so that we can work together for God’s glory. By learning about our differences, we learn more about ourselves, discover commonalities, and we can thoughtfully appreciate each other. For ideas on how to “Travel the World Together” from home, consult the Family Literacy Day website at: https://abclifeliteracy.ca/all-programs/family-literacy-day/
