Secondary: Christian Studies 8

For the past three weeks, the Grade 8 Christian Studies classes have been learning about the importance of different spiritual disciplines as a necessary part of maturing into their relationships with God. We covered such things as Christian meditation, prayer, listening prayer, silence, in depth Bible reading, thankfulness, fellowship and service. The last week of January we focused on service projects. The first task was for students to come up with three doable acts of service for others, and the second was more public acts of service. For this we focused on helping the custodial staff with certain cleaning duties around the school, as well as creating Valentine’s cards for a local seniors home. My hope is that by taking time to teach these disciplines as a routine part of life, it will help students to continue them in the same way outside of the classroom.
