Scripture for the Year

Tim Chan Times News

As a tradition and discipline the staff at JKCS spend time praying for verses that shape our thinking for the coming year. Late this summer as elementary and secondary staff returned we gathered once again and prayed. A number of verses emerged. Jacob Rogers led us in a couple of sessions where we prayed and discussed potential scripture verses. Two passages were illuminated from a growing theme: Psalm 1:1-3; and Colossians 2:6-7. The theme from Psalm 1 focused on our dependence on God and how we blossom and flourish in him. The Colossians passage developed from a sense of being “rooted” in Christ, that we are part of him and take our strength from him in all we do. Through- out the year, you will likely see parts of these scriptures represented on posters and communications as well as on walls at our two campuses. May the verses for this year be a blessing to all.
