As She Died

He held her hand at her bedside
The tears flowed free; he cried and cried
Embraced her as she wept and sighed
As she died.

The pain was gone. She smiled and sighed
A light glowed bright, and God she spied
Her joy was full. Happy tears she cried
As she died.

He stared in shock, trying not to cry
His heart was wrecked and torn up inside
He thought of the pain of saying goodbye
As she died.
