As we step into celebrating the 70th anniversary of John Knox Christian School, we are excited to share with you our new logo! The logo captures both the heart of John Knox and our vision.

We started our process by holding focus groups with important members of our community, including student council, teachers, board members, parents, and administration. We wanted to ensure we heard from all voices in our school community about what John Knox means to them today and their hopes for the future.

Our team took all the feedback from the focus groups, looked for common themes, and began the design process for the logo. After many designs and revisions, we came up with a final design that we are happy with.

The new logo is rich with symbolism, with each element chosen to tell a part of our story. At the heart of the logo is the sun, representing Jesus, who said He is the light of the world. He is the center of all that our school is and does, and the transformation we hope to see students experience in and through Him.

The light rays convey hope, warmth, and excellence—words our community used to describe the school. The coming together of the city and the hills illustrates where we are—Burnaby and New Westminster—creating the “city on a hill” imagery from Matthew 5:14.

The intersecting buildings represent community and collaboration. As a school we partner with families and the church to nurture and teach the students, all of us doing this with Christ at the centre.

The hills represent the world. It's a reminder that as a school, we are preparing students to be sent out into the world, to live out their callings, and to live a life of transformation and service.

We've also introduced a refreshed colour palette. Our traditional red remains, anchoring us in our history, and we’ve added new shades: a bright yellow for joy, a deep teal for balance, and a soft salmon for warmth. These colours work together to create a visual identity that feels vibrant, approachable, and welcoming, just like our community.

This logo is a celebration of who we are as a school community. It's grounded in Christ, thriving in collaboration, dedicated to excellence, and a way to visually tell the story of our Christ-centered education and the transformative journey we offer our students.
