Now that Knox Walk: In Your Neighbourhood 2 has officially launched, it’s time to set up your child’s fundraising page! Simply follow this link https://knox-walk-2021.raisely.com/ and follow the instructions to set up one page per JKCS student in your family. Once you’ve added their name, grade, and photo (optional), you can send the link to family and friends to get fundraising!
Besides raising money for John Knox, we are pleased to tithe 10% of all funds raised from the Knox Walk to the New Westminster branch of the UGM. This Christian organization works hard all around the Lower Mainland to support individuals and families who struggle with poverty, homelessness, and addiction.
All donations to the Knox Walk are eligible for a tax receipt for their full value. Thank you for supporting John Knox and John Knox students!
In Your Neighbourhood
Walk in your neighbourhood! In a typical year, John Knox students walk from the elementary campus to Queen’s Park and back. If you live near the elementary campus this could be a great route for you to walk, too! Here are some other interesting 5km walks…
•Como Lake Park! The trail around the park is approximately 1km. Walk it 5 times!
•Burnaby Lake! Park near the Nature House and walk towards the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club and back, and you’ll have walked 6km!
•Deer Lake! Park by the Shadboldt Centre and walk all around the lake. It is only 4km, so you will need to add a few laps around the grassy field 😉
•Your neighbourhood! It takes about an hour to walk 5km, so you could simply walk through your own hood.
And….DON’T FORGET TO WEAR A RED TSHIRT!
Thank you to all the amazing John Knox students who have already started fundraising. You are a blessing to our school!
Where in New West is the Knox Hawk?
Did you guess where the Knox Hawk was hiding this week? It was hiding by the tin soldier at the River Market at the quay. Did you know that it is the largest tin solder in the world? Tune is next week to see where the hawk has flown next!
