Congratulations to the first graduates of John Knox Christian (K-12) School! Over 300 guests joined the JKCS grads to celebrate and commemorate their achievements at the Convocation Ceremony on June 5. As exams finish and final ‘good-byes’ are said, these twenty-six students are poised and ready to begin the next chapter of their lives. Here is a snap-shot of the achievements and future plans of our grads:

  • 1 plans to study & serve with YWAM
  • 4 will attend local colleges
  • 1 will attend Fine Arts at Emily Carr University
  • 1 will attend University of Toronto
  • 1 will attend Mount Holyoke College in the USA
  • 3 will attend SFU
  • 11 will attend UBC
  • 4 are undecided (plan to attend post-secondary or take a gap year)

In total, these twenty-six students were offered over $70, 000 in scholarships and bursaries including the $16, 000 Brock U Entrance Scholarship (Megan L.), WolfPact Scholarship for $13, 500 (April L.), $7, 500 U of T (Megan L.) $6,000-8000 TWU Entrance Scholarship (Sara J.), $6,000 TWU President’s Scholarship (Brian H. & Amy F.), $4,000 TWU Provost Scholarship (Dylan R.), $3, 500 Brock University Entrance (Megan L.), $3,000 UBC Tuum Est Experiental Award (Amy F.), $1,000 Charlene Revealey Children’s Bursary (Evan C.), and $1, 000 HSU Bursary (Nathan C.). Also, to note, we celebrate with Evan C. in receiving a Silver Key Award for Digital Art and two Honorable Mentions for Photography out of the 340,000 works submitted to the 2019 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

The following students were awarded JKCS Internal Scholarships: Principal’s Outstanding Achievement Scholarship $500 (Megan L.), VCS Scholarship $500 (Dylan R.), Christian Leadership Scholarship $500 (Nathan C. and April L.), John H. Vegt Memorial Scholarship $500 (Deirdre B. and April L.), Micah 6:8 Scholarship $1000 (Deirdre B.), Trades and Technical Scholarship $500 (Chris D.), Ethical Flooring Trades Scholarship, $500 (Chris D.), Fine Arts Scholarship, $500 (Amy F. and Matthew K.), Keys to Success Scholarship $1000 (Sara J. and Nathan C.).

Thank you to the JKCS friends, parents, and staff who donated towards these internal scholarships. In summary, we recall the mission and vision of John Knox Christian School as we encourage these twenty-six grads to continue to “respond to God’s call to live as disciples of Christ”.
