Congratulations to our 2020 graduates of John Knox Christian (K-12) School! Despite the current pandemic circumstances, we were delighted to celebrate their accomplishments on Friday, June 12. A special thanks to the many hands for their thoroughness in planning the ceremony and for finding unique ways to honour our grads. Mrs. Michael, the lawn signs looked fantastic!

As exams finish and final virtual ‘good-byes’ are exchanged, these twenty-six students are poised and ready to begin the next chapter of their lives. Here is a snap-shot of the achievements and future plans of our grads:
• 4 plan to take a gap year to serve, volunteer, work, & travel
• 1 will attend Douglas College
• 1 will attend BCIT
• 1 will attend Capilano University
• 4 will attend SFU
• 13 will attend UBC
• 1 will attend UVIC
• 1 will attend University of East Anglia in the UK

Due to Covid-19, many organizations and universities are late in announcing their scholarship recipients. I am confident that several of our students will receive additional scholarships in the coming months. To date, however, we know the following external scholarships have been awarded: $500 to Nicholas L. (New West Soccer Club), $1250 to Frida C., Annika S., and Maya S. (District Authority Scholarship) and $30,000 to Patty Q. (Presidential Scholars Major Entrance Scholarship to UBC).

In addition, we are so grateful to our school community and alumni for supporting our graduates through generous donations for Internal Scholarships. We are pleased to award the JKCS internal scholarships to the following students:
• Principal’s Outstanding Achievement Scholarship: Emma H.
• Christian Leadership Scholarship: Nicolas L., Andrew Y.
• John H. Vegt Memorial Scholarship: Maya R., Maya S.
• Micah 6:8 Scholarship: Sarah W.
• Fine Arts Scholarship: Hellen C., Alisha H.
• Keys to Success Award: Patty Q., Hellen C.
• Mabel Sluis Scholarship for Inclusion: Annie C.
• VCS 1 John 3:18 Scholarship: Annika S.
• Trades and Technical Scholarship: Hellen C.
As stated in the mission and vision of John Knox Christian School, we encourage this amazing group of young people to continue to “respond to God’s call to live as disciples of Christ” wherever God will take them next. We are so excited to see how God will use you in the years to come. Blessings to each of you!
