The Grade 5s enjoyed their first field trip of the year in beautiful North Vancouver, hiking through Capilano Regional Park in North Vancouver on Friday, October 1st. The sun was shining and the view was spectacular! The students got to learn about where and how Vancouver gets its clean drinking water while visiting Cleveland Dam, and also took time to reflect on and experience the beauty of God’s creation while hiking through the giant firs and learned the native plant species, including many edible berries such as huckleberries, salmon berries, elder berries, thimble berries, Oregon grape, and salal. We spotted licorice fern, nurse logs, banana slugs, and learned about the watershed and the Capilano Lake reservoir. It was a joy to spend the day exploring God’s creation!
