Community announcements from GEMS Girls’ Club and the Burnaby Orphan Aid Thrift Store.

GEMS Girls’ Club

Hi girls! Do you feel too old for GEMS but too young for Youth Group? At New Westminster Christian Reformed Church’s GEMS, we are adopting a new curriculum for those of you who are in that awkward, in-between (Grade 6/7) age that will help you make the transition to Youth Group.

We will meet as GEMS (schedule below), but instead of doing the GEMS program: crafts & activities while work- ing on badges, we will explore what to expect in the teen years and how to stay focused on God. We will talk about beauty, purity, peer pressure, homework, parents, and how to navigate life during adolescence.

Do you want to find out how to glorify God in thought, word and deed? Come and join GEMS 6/7 this year!

For more information, please contact Harriet Busch @ 778-322-4125 or harriet1@live.ca, or sharon@farquharson.ca

Schedule: Thursdays, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Dates of meeting: Sept 26; Oct 10, 2; Nov 14, 21; Dec 5; Jan 16, 30; Feb 13, 27; Mar 12; Apr 9, 16, 30; May 14.

Burnaby’s Orphan Aid Thrift Store

URGENTLY NEEDED: Burnaby’s Orphan Aid Thrift Store is in desperate need of volunteers, especially cashiers. Are you able to help us out for 4 hours a week? Training on the job will be provided. Please call the store at 604-521-1013 or visit us at 7889 Edmonds Street (Tues- Sat, 10-5). Maybe you have friends or neighbours looking to give of their time as a volunteer. Please pass on the information. Thank you for your prayers, and supporting us in our work to care for the orphans in Zambia.
