Our secondary Student Council was well prepared last week for the onslaught of 200 plus secondary students with balloons. They presented a reassuring and welcoming presence as well as a projected and credible sense of authentic leadership. We worshiped in the New West Christian Reformed Church, received schedules and engaged in introductions in the elementary campus.
Students furthered their relationships and engaged in compelling community building during Encounter Days. On Wednesday, Canadian art, First Nations drumming and group building workshops were led by people renowned in their fields. On Thursday, our students participated in dragon boat racing, sailing, kayaking, wakeboarding, and river rafting.
Our secondary staff prepared for our students the last week of August, developing lesson plans and program as well as the physical spaces of learning. During Encounter Days, they had the opportunity to observe and participate alongside students.
But the real joy came this week Monday when our secondary students filled our amazing new building with life! Parents respected the traffic guidelines and our first week was a vibrant settling into a rhythm of learning and worship and a strong presence of the spirit of our Lord. Our community can be characterized as spiritually life giving!
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him — the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord
