On the first day of school, during our morning recess break, I walked my class outside and found myself talking with one of my students. It was then I encountered an odd feeling of déjà vu. Hadn’t I just talked to someone about this very topic earlier in class? And that’s when it hit me… I was talking with the same student, but I didn’t recognize them with their mask off.
Teaching with masks presents a unique set of challenges, and is making me more attuned to micro-expressions above the nose. But while our faces may be veiled, our joy and enthusiasm remain unbridled. It remains a delight and privilege to teach and, Covid or not, we are excited to partner with you.
