Dearest JKCS Families,
We know that these first few weeks of school may have been nerve-racking, stressful, emotionally-charged, and possibly a bit chaotic. Some days you may have forgotten your child’s lunch, other days it may have been their mask. There are extra items to juggle in the mix now, so to speak, and we know it is straining on parents and students alike. Therefore, we wanted to pass on one of our favourite family resources to you: The Steps of Emotion Coaching. These steps will help you in learning how to respond to your child’s emotions and maybe even your spouse’s as well. Coming to the understanding that every emotion has a reason and a need to be met, can be phenomenally insightful and healing. We challenge you to practice these steps this week, and notice how the receiving individual responds. There are further incredible resources on this website as well, so please take a browse!

On another note, we also wanted to notify you that there is a Girls Resiliency Group commencing the week of October 5th via Zoom, led by Ms. Beyer, for all girls grades 9-12. If your daughter would be interested in joining, please have her contact Ms. Beyer at mbeyer@johnknoxbc.org.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

Blessings,
