Merger Manager (One year contract)
Closing Date: May 18, 2012
Vancouver Christian School (VCS) and John Knox Christian School (JKCS) have been providing faith-based Christian education to their respective communities since the 1950s. Since 2005, VCS and JCKS have been jointly operating Carver Christian High School (CCHS) as a regional Christian high school. The schools have recently decided to amalgamate together under one society which will have a mission to provide a co-ordinated K-12 Christian education program in the Vancouver-Burnaby area. We are looking for an organized and experienced individual to lead us through the amalgamation process over the next year by serving as a Merger Manager.
The Merger Manager will be responsible for implementation of the amalgamation by mid-2013. The Merger Manager will report to the Boards and will chair a small advisory group comprised of representatives from the school communities. Key responsibilities will include: managing legal, business and educational aspects of the amalgamation, co-ordinating volunteer committees, developing a robust governance structure, building a strong leadership team for the merged school system, and communicating with administration, staff and the parent community.
Project management skills will be essential, including the ability to lead a team, co-ordinate staff and volunteers, and manage multiple priorities. Strong leadership and communication skills will also be required to successfully guide the school communities through this time of change.
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
• a college or university degree, or equivalent education and related experience
• project management experience and skills
• strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• experience in an educational environment
Remuneration will be commensurate with education and experience.
